Post-Massage Recovery Part 1: Nourishing Drinks & Meals

Ever notice how hungry or thirsty you feel after a massage? That's your body responding to the increased circulation and muscle release that happens during your treatment. The first hour or two after your massage is when your body is doing the most work: rehydrating tissues, flushing out tension, and settling back into a calmer state. That makes it a good window to be a little more intentional than usual, whether that means reaching for something hydrating instead of your usual coffee, or choosing a lighter meal over something heavy and hard to digest.

At Bodhi Wellness Spa, we want you to leave your treatment feeling just as good hours later as you did the moment you stepped off the table. What you eat and drink after your treatment can help extend that feeling of relief, or undo some of it if you reach for the wrong things.

Nourishing Drinks to Try

Water is always the easiest place to start, but a few other options can help you get even more out of your recovery:

Herbal tea: After your massage at Bodhi Wellness, take advantage of our complimentary herbal tea in our relaxing lounge, locally made by Canmore Tea Company.

Golden Milk Turmeric Latte

Coconut Water Electrolyte Drink: Coconut water, fresh citrus, and a touch of maple syrup. Especially good after a hot stone massage or a longer session.

Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie: A blend of kale, beets, and berries, easy to drink and packed with nourishing anti-inflammatory ingredients.

Carrot Ginger Turmeric Juice: A bright, refreshing blend of carrots, ginger, turmeric, and a squeeze of lemon. No juicer needed, just a blender and a strainer.

Golden Milk Turmeric Latte: A warm option made with turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger. Good if your massage was later in the day and you're easing into evening relaxation.

Nourishing Foods to Try

Your body tends to feel relaxed and a little sleepy after a massage, so this isn't the moment for a heavy meal. Light, whole foods are easier to digest and give you steady energy without weighing you down.

Avocado Toast with Eggs: Simple, satisfying, and gentle on the stomach.

Chopped Green Goddess Salad: Crunchy cabbage, cucumber, and green onion tossed in a creamy herb dressing, scoopable with tortilla chips, veggie chips or pita.

Lemony Lentil Soup: A warm, one-pot soup made with green lentils, carrots, and turmeric. Easy on the stomach and great for a cooler evening.

Healthy Granola: Oats, seeds, and dried fruit, naturally sweetened with maple syrup or honey. Sprinkle it over plain yogurt for an easy, protein-rich snack.

Mango Sticky Rice Chia Pudding: Chia seeds and basmati rice set into a creamy coconut milk pudding, layered with fresh mango, and shredded coconut. Prep it before your appointment and it's ready when you get home.

Fuel Your Recovery at Bodhi Wellness Spa

Massage is only part of the equation. What you do in the hours after matters too, and small, mindful choices like these can help you get more out of every treatment. Whether you're reaching for a warm cup of herbal tea in our lounge or coming home to a jar of chia pudding you prepped the night before, the goal is the same: giving your body what it needs to keep doing the work your massage started.
